John Everett Long, 22 of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 1, 2002 in Hughesville, MD.

Born on December 29, 1979 in La Plata, MD, he was the son of Claude Edwin, Sr. and Helen Smith Long. He was an apprentice Ironworker for Iron Worker Local 5. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, the mountains, playing pool, looking for relics and four wheeling on trails he made.

In addition to his parents, his son, Nathaniel Everett Long, sister, Maria Louise Long, brother, Claude Edwin Long, Jr. He is also survived by aunts, Doris J. Cooley, Carol Clevenger, Pam Cruz, Beverly and Becky Long, uncles, John Cruz, James A., Philip, and Dwight Long, and Paul Cooley, cousins, Mark, Jimmy, Dwight David, Jr., Brian, and Natalie Long, John Bell, Claude and Tony Clevenger, David Langley, Jennifer Taylor, Claudia Stout, Debbie Petschk, and Sharon Hardesty, nephew, Emmanuel Wright and sister-in-law, Crystal Thompson.

Family was received on Thursday, December 5, 2002 from 2-4 & 6-8PM in The Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall, MD. Prayers were recited at 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 10AM at St. Francis De Sales Catholic church, 7189 Benedict Ave., Benedict, MD. Father Saverio Vitturino will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Old Fields Church cemetery, Hughesville, MD.

Pallbearers are Eddie Long, Claude Clevenger, Tony Clevenger, Mark Long, Jimmy Long, John Bell, David Dwight Long and John Cruz.
