A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel Leonardtown, MD with Father Richard Gardiner officiating. Interment will held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery Arlington, VA.
Visitation:
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM with prayers recited at 3:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD.
Joseph Price Gardiner, 81, of Waldorf, MD passed away on November 11, 2014 in Leonardtown, MD. Born on December 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Elsie Gardiner and Thomas “Percy” Gardiner. Joseph was the loving husband of Sung “Sue” Gardiner, whom he married on November 16, 1960 in Seoul, Korea. Joseph is survived by his son Michael Gardiner (Renee) of Avenue, MD, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Siblings; Thomas Gardiner, Mary Elsie Dyson, Richard Gardiner, Douglas Gardiner, and Donna Burch. He was preceded in death by his sister Ann Marie Thompson, and Ellen King. Joseph worked at a Police Officer for the Department of Defense for 31 years, retiring in July 1, 2005. Joseph served in the United States Army for 20 years from 1953 to 1974, serving in the Korea, Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star. He enjoyed tobacco farming.
