85, of La Plata
Marjorie A. Hovan, 85, of La Plata, and fromerly of Fort Washington, died Sept. 10, 2003 at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. She was a school teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Sunnyside School, Iowa. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata. Born January 10, 1918, in Hornick, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Guy Ross Beebe and the late Agnes Beebe. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, George Thomas Hovan and brother, Warren F. Beebe. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, George Hovan, of La Plata; daughter, Suzanna Marie Adams, of Waldorf; son, Michael Paul Hovan, of Waldorf; sisters, Vera Hart, and Audrey Roberts, both of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Cook, of Sioux City, Iowa; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Services will be Monday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Columbia Catholic Church, Oxon Hill, MD. The Rev. Fidel Deramos will officiate. Burial will take place at Resurection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
