Mary Helen Mills, 86, of Leonardtown, MD died August 14, 2007 in St. Mary’s Nursing Center. Born June 22, 1921 in Hollywood, MD she was the daughter of the late James Buster and Della Mills. She is survived by her daughter: Shirley Patten of Washington, DC; sister: Elizabeth Goldring of Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; best friends: Susie Armsworthy, Margie Aud and Massie Connelly; god son: Michael Butler and god daughter: Theme; 2 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Steven Mills, Richly Mills, Westley Mills, Rose C. Scriber, Astelle Bennett and Della Ann Berry. Ms. Mills was a life long St. Mary’s County. She worked as a housekeeper for the Leonardtown Hotel for 20 years until her retirement in July 2006 and she also worked as a nanny. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, being with family, helping others and playing the lottery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2007 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. John Dakes officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Tony Goldring, Marvin Williams, Marvin Wood, Terell Williams, Roger Scriber and Zack Mattingly. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Susie Butler, Peggy Wade, James Benett, Charles Bennett, Wanda Scriber and Helen Williams.
