Local duet group, “Acoustic Soul,” perform regularly in St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties. On Tuesdays they can be found at Donovan’s Pub in Lexington Park.
Singer and song-writer Patty Dorsch and musician Rosemarie Stanek performed songs such as “Bobby McGee,” and “What’s Up” (4 Non Blondes) last Tuesday evening. Rosemarie is originally from Baltimore but has lived in St. Mary’s County since 1989. Patty is from St. Mary’s, a Great Mills High School Graduate and later a music major at St. Mary’s College. She has two albums, “Perfectly Crazy,” which was released in 2004, and “A New Pair,” released last year. Rosemarie joins her in three of the songs on her most recent album.
The majority of songs are written by Patty, herself, but she also includes a sampling of traditional covers such as “Wade in the Water,” and “Danny Boy.” Patty told The Bay Net she only covers traditional music due to the royalty fees for other songs.
Currently Patty is a music teacher at Father Andrew White and Mother Catherine Spalding. One of her most famous local songs is entitled “Smibville, USA.” You can listen toย the second partย above, or visit her website www.somdcomputerguy.com/pattyย to learn more about Patty or download her “Smibville USA” songs.
