Iona Moon announced July 17, it had assisted 78 firms in winning the Navy’s SeaPort-e contract, a $5.6 billion-dollar-per-year multiple award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (MAC IDIQ) contract vehicle for Navy and Marine Corps. Iona Moon is the leading industry experts on SeaPort-e, having helped over 100 companies to win the base contract and several task orders since 2005.

In 2008, the company published a do-it-yourself guide for SeaPort-e rolling admissions, resulting in a 100% win rate for clients who used the kit. “We are thrilled to be a part of so many success stories, mostly small businesses that may not have been able to navigate the process without help.” said President, Lee Moon, of the latest round of awards. The pace is frantic at Iona Moon headquarters in the 30-days leading up to the proposal deadline. “The support requests come in at about one-a-minute during the last week,” said Moon. “It is by far the busiest time of our year.

This year, Twitter was a big help in getting information out fast, and responding to frequently asked questions. Each year, technology makes it easier, but there are still a lot of really long days.” The Navy awarded 556 new prime contracts in the 2010 rolling admissions, with Iona Moon clients totaling 14% of those winners, representing almost every state. Moon said, “We had clients from Hawaii to Maine. The reach was well beyond that of previous years. I expect to see a change in the competitive landscape of SeaPort-e task orders in the coming award term.”

SeaPort-e is a multiple-award, indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery (IDIQ) that provides for competition for engineering and other technical service requirements advertised by Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Naval Supply Systems Command, Military Sealift Command, Naval Facilities Command, Strategic Systems Programs, Office of Naval Research and the Marine Corps. The full list of awarded companies is available at the Defense Department’s news website. Iona Moon, founded in 2004, is a business management and consulting firm specializing in the defense industry.
