La Plata, MD – The Charles County Public Library (CCPL) is proud to announce that we now have a licensed notary public at 4 of our 5 library branches (Mobile Library excluded). Our licensed professional notary public services are here to make life easier. Once your documents are notarized, we will help you make any necessary copies.
A notary public acts as an impartial third-party witness to not only the signature of a document but also that all parties who signed a document did so willingly and under their own free will. Types of documents that may require notarization include: wills, trusts, deeds, contracts and affidavits and the notarization of this documents will be provided to Charles County residents, FREE of charge.
In order to be prepared, customers should bring a valid, government issued photo ID when they visit the Library branch. Some documents may require witnesses in addition to the notarization. In most cases, the notary cannot act as a witness. Check with the local branch for witness availability. Not all library staff are licensed, notaries. Please call ahead to the branch you plan to visit for the availability of a notary and the times available to have documents notarized.

About Charles County Public Library
Charles County Library System has four physical buildings and one mobile library. The Waldorf West and P.B. Brown Memorial branches are both located in Waldorf.
The La Plata branch serves as the headquarters and is located in the town of La Plata. The western side of the county is served by the Potomac Branch located in Ruth B. Swann Park.
