Reno, NV — National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) St. Maryโ€™s Chapter 969, board members attended the National NARFE Convention in Reno, Nevada Aug. 29-Swept. 1.ย  NARFE, established in 1921, is the largest association of federal employees and retirees and is dedicated to protecting earned federal benefits and opposing legislation contrary to their interests.ย  The delegates supported a change to the by-laws for optional chapter membership and to give each member an opportunity to vote, โ€œone member, one voteโ€.

Speaker highlights included: John Oโ€™Brien, Office of Personnel Management, who spoke about online improvements and the increases planned for Long Term Health Care Insurance; U.S. Representatives, Dana Titus [D: NV], who called herself โ€œyour partner in Congressโ€ and Michelle Lujan Grisham [D: NM], also a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee), who also pledged her continued support for NARFE legislative issues.

NARFEโ€™s Legislative Program for the 115th Congress was approved and will be detailed in the January NARFE magazine.ย  Richard Thissen, President and Jon Dowie, Secretary/Treasurer were both reelected during the convention.
