Charlotte Hall, MD – Members of the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office had a rare encounter Friday, March 11.

Lieutenant Schmidt and Pfc. Snyder responded to a call for a bald eagle which was caught in a cord in the woods in the area of Trinity Church Road.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and a private wildlife rescue [team] were on the scene. The officers assisted with catching the eagle and holding it while the DNR and wildlife rescue workers freed the eagle from the cords, which were choking it badly and wrapped around its talons. Within minutes, the bald eagle was checked for injuries and released safely.
