Ocean City, MD – Team Roncito from Calvert County, fishing in the 2017 White Marlin Open is singing the blues. On Aug. 10, Team Roncito hooked a massive 108-inch Blue Marlin. White Marlin Open rules require a qualifying blue marlin to be a minimum of 114 inches. No blue qualified for the event with an estimated worth of over $1 million before any Calcutta’s come in to play.
The owners of the local boat are Schrader Grady and Brooks Grady, who own and operate Fantasy World Entertainment. The vesselโs captain is Gilfredo Juanga Lopez and the mate is Jeffery Davidson. Anglers aboard the vessel were Mike Haile, Darren Helwig, Brandon Turner and Albert DeCesaris.
DeCesaris, owner of AD Enterprises, said “the story of my life is always coming up six inches short.” The crew was fishing all day in 10-foot swells and minutes before the closing they snagged the fish.
