Broomes Island may be 4800 miles from Hawaii, but that didn’t stop attendees from enjoying the second annual Luau for Hospice!  Over 100 guests dined on delicious food and danced to live music provided by the Nightlife Band at the scenic Stoney’s Broomes Island all while raising nearly $40,000 for Calvert Hospice.

“Tonight, I am proud to say for our second year we share the aloha spirit, not only as a community, but affirming that every breath of life is vibrant, worthy of respect and attention, even right down to our very last. And that is why we have Calvert Hospice. That is why we “do” hospice. It is also why we boldly ask for your help,” said Calvert Hospice Executive Director Brenda Laughhunn in her remarks.

Hosted by Jeannie and Phillip Stone, the Luau for Hospice has quickly become a tremendously successful event.  “We are so pleased to be able to host this fundraiser for Calvert Hospice. When we needed them they were there to support our family every step of the way,” said Jeannie Stone.

In addition to the dining and dancing, a lantern release ceremony was held to honor lost loved ones and to remind everyone of the HELP… HOPE…and HEALING that Calvert Hospice provides the community.

The Luau for Hospice is an annual event, so be sure to mark your calendar for August 13, 2015!
