Amber N. Queenย

Leonardtown, MD— On April 12, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Margaret Smolarsky responded to the Food Lion located at Merchant Lane in Leonardtown for the report of theft.ย

When Smolarsky arrived on the scene, she was informed that the defendant, identified as Amber N. Queen, 22, of Bushwood retrieved an Oscar Mayer Lunchable and a vanilla frappe drink, placed the items in her cart and exited the store without paying for the items.ย

Queen was stopped by the customer service manager, who advised, “She observedย Queen leaving without paying,” according to charging documents. The manager requested Queen return the items from the basket; Queen did so then fled the scene.ย

Officers were able to stop the vehicle on Three Notch Road, thanks to the store manager’s description of the vehicle that left the store after the theft incident. When officers pulled the vehicleย over Queen was located in the back of the vehicle.

Officers took Queen back to the Food Lion, where the store manager positivelyย identifiedย Queen as the suspect who stole the products without paying.

Queen was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with theft less than $100.ย

Queen has a scheduled hearing July 28 in Districtย Court.ย
