On February 19 at 2:47 a.m. while traveling south on Gunsmoke Trail in Lusby, DFC J. Smith observed an oncoming vehicle traveling toward him in the southbound lane. DFC Smith swerved to avoid striking the vehicle and turned around attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle ran a stop sign and accelerated to speeds in excess of 85 mph. The vehicle finally stopped on Rafael Road and the driver jumped out. DFC Smith apprehended him and arrested the driver identified as Michael Anthony Green, 35 of Lusby. Green initially gave a false name. Green was charged with false statement, obstructing and hindering a police officer and numerous traffic violations.
