Man arrested after assaulting parent and threatening children

Great Mills, MD – On Feb. 3, Deputy Roszell made contact with a victim at the emergency room at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.

The victim alleged the suspect, identified as Cedric Sinclair Williams, age 28, of Lexington Park, began arguing with the victim while they were traveling in a car in Great Mills.

Williams suddenly began to strike the victim in the face, head and left arm with his fist repeatedly. Williams then attempted to strangle the victim his hands while he threatened to kill the victim’s children. Williams then drove the victim to the MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of the injuries he had just inflicted.

While at the hospital, the victim became increasingly afraid for the children and left the hospital. After placing the children at an undisclosed location, the victim returned to St. Mary’s Hospital and met with Deputy Roszell. The victim was admitted for serious, none life-threatening facial injuries. Deputy Roszell immediately applied for an arrest warrant for Williams.

On Feb. 4, at 11:40 AM, Williams was located by Corporal M. Rogers and placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where the warrant was served, charging him with 2nd Degree Assault. At 3:30 PM, Williams was served with a temporary protective order issued by the District Court of Maryland – signed by Judge K. Holt Chesser.

On Feb. 5, Corporal D. Harris, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Coordinator, received information Williams had attempted to contact the victim of the domestic assault from the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he is incarcerated. The protective order, served on February 4th stipulates Williams is to have no contact with the victim. The investigation revealed Williams had attempted contact with the victim by phone call on six (6) separate occasions in violation of the protective order.  

Corporal Harris charged Williams with six counts of violation of a protective order the same day. Williams remains incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
