Man charged after drunken assault on officers

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – On Oct. 4, 2018, Dep. John Fenwick responded to the 47000 block of College Drive in St. Mary’s City for the report of trespassing.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland Public Safety Officers advised that Edward Kabese Amani, 20, of Germantown was intoxicated and needed to leave.

Fenwick was also advised that Amani had assaulted a victim, pushing the person into a wall. As Amani was placed into the deputy’s cruiser, Amani kicked a public safety officer in the groin and attempted to bit Deputy Shawn Shelko three times while officers attempted to seat belt him in.

Amani was charged with three counts of Second-Degree Assault. CASE# 53144-18
