Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack Trooper Krenik responded to Lexington Park Elementary on Wednesday, September 10th at 4:00 p.m. for a reported intoxicated parent attempting to pick up his son.
Tpr. Krenik made contact with the parent, Garrett John Dugan, 49, of no fixed address, who advised he had driven his vehicle to the school to pick up his child.
Mr. Dugan performed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and submitted to a Preliminary Breath Test.
He was arrested and charged with Alcoholic Beverage – Intoxicated Endangerment and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
The Department of Social Services responded to the scene and took custody of the child until the mother could respond from out of state.
