Shortly after 4 p.m. Aug. 8, Ridge Volunteer Firefighters responded to a single vehicle crash in Dameron on Rt. 235.

Arriving Firefighters and Rescue Squad members found a truck off the road in the woods, fully involved in fire, reports Firefighter / EMT-B Scot Best.

Chief 49 George Gatton was first on scene and advised that the truck was well off and that the patient had climbed from the vehicle and was going to need to be flown to a hospital.

Firefighters from Tanker 4, E42 and E141 (NAS Patuxent River-Webster Field) went to work on the fire while other crews worked on packaging the patient for transport.

The vehicle fire was knocked quickly, and the patient was loaded on Trooper 7 helicopter. All units cleared the scene within 40 minutes.
