OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
On January 30, 2011 deputies responded to a residence on Rumsford Lane in California, Md., for a report of an assault. Investigation revealed Christopher Michael Wilcox, 40 of California, Md., was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim inside of his vehicle. The dispute escalated into a physical assault when Wilcox struck the victim in the neck and left arm.
A second individual at the residence witnessed the assault and attempted to help the victim. The victim was able to exit the vehicle. As the victim was fleeing from the vehicle Wilcox put his vehicle in gear and attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle. Wilcox missed the first victim but struck the second victim, who was rendering aid, in the right leg. Wilcox then fled the scene but was later arrested at his residence.
The first victim is a minor which Wilcox had temporary care and custody of while the minor was seated in his vehicle. Wilcox was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault and second degree child abuse.
