St. Maryโs Sheriffโs Officers responded to a local Lexington Park hotel for the call of โCheck the Welfareโ for a female being held against her will.
Officers repeated knocked on the door and they prepared for a forced entry, when the door was opened and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected.
It appeared that the suspects took the time prior to opening the door to flush a controlled dangerous substance in the toilet.
Bureau of Criminal Investigations Narcotics detectives responded and three search and seizure warrants were obtained.
Devon Johnson, 27, of San Jose, Calif., was arrested for possession of marijuana and located on his person was nearly $6,000 in cash.
As the search continued additional marijuana as well as seven large plastic baggies with marijuana residue were recovered. A small amount of marijuana was recovered from the toilet.
Detectives also located a large plastic bag containing $22,000 in cash, two cell phones and other various items were seized. Johnson was served three open warrants and the additional possession charge and related charges.
