Maryland State Police responded to Big Dogs Paradise on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a reported disturbance at 1 a.m. March 7. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised he and three other people were assaulted by Jerry Wayne McGinnis, 24, of Mechanicsville.
During the course of the investigation, police determined that McGinnis struck several pedestrians with his white Ford Ranger in the parking lot of the bar. McGinnis also struck two vehicles in the parking lot.
McGinnis was later located in the area of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge and had been operating the white Ford Ranger. McGinnis was subsequently arrested for DWI/DUI. He was also charged with three counts of first-degree Assault, three counts of second-degree Assault, two counts of malicious destruction of property over $500 and Disorderly Public Intoxication.
He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.
