Prince Frederick, MD โย A Calvert County man who allegedly assaulted and threatened to shoot a police officer was indicted by a grand jury Monday.ย
Terry Francis Milstead, 65 is charged with second-degree assault, and obstructing and hindering a police officer. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Milsteadโs initial appearance in circuit court is scheduled for Oct. 14. A status conference on the case is to be held six days later.
The indictment stemmed from an Aug. 14ย police chaseย in Huntingtown. A Calvert County Sheriffโs Office deputy gave chase to Christopher Mistead, 29, for speeding on Hunting Creek Rd. The pursuit led to Christopher’s home at 2175 Hunting Creek Road.ย
While Christopher Milstead was being placed under arrest, both Terry Milstead and the woman โ later identified as Tracy Romaine, 28 of Huntingtown โ โbecame very disorderly, making threats” towards the deputy, the police report stated. A struggle ensued and Terry Milstead โfled back into the house while making threats to shoot deputies,โ the according to the report. โA barricade was declared.โ
The deputies established a perimeter and brought in a negotiator to de-escalate the situation. Terry Milstead was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
โNumerous firearms were located in the residence and were placed in property held for safe-keeping,โ the police report stated. โTerry Milstead was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital to be evaluated for the bump on his head.
No deputies were injured and no vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.
Christopher Milstead was charged with failure to obey a law officerโs order, disorderly conduct and several traffic charges. Romaine was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing and hindering a police officer and failure to obey a lawful order.
The younger Milstead and Romaine have Oct. 7 hearings in District Court on the criminal charges each is facing.
