On July 1 at 7:49 p.m., officers responded to the railroad tracks between Kent Avenue and Charles Street in La Plata for the report of an injured man.
A preliminary investigation revealed a male, 24, was lying on the railroad tracks when he was struck by a train. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries. Investigators are looking in to the possibility that alcohol was a contributing factor with the pedestrian.
The investigation is ongoing.
