Anqoine Chambers, 24, of Temple Hills, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney for the District of Marylandย  Rod Rosenstein.

According to the statement of facts presented at his Sept. 11, 2006 guilty plea, on Aug. 30, 2005:

Prince George’s County Police officers observed Chambers and two others talking with another individual outside Chambersโ€™s car. As the officers approached, the three men began to walk away, ignoring the officersโ€™ directions to stop. Chambers tossed a handgun into a nearby bush and ran. After a brief chase he was apprehended.

Officers retrieved a loaded .40 caliber Taurus handgun and a baggie containing 1.49 grams of crack cocaine from the bush. The crack was packaged for distribution in 15 smaller baggies. Officers seized a second .40 caliber magazine, loaded with 10 rounds from Chambersโ€™s pocket.

A search of Chambersโ€™ car revealed 217 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution in two 1/4 pound bags. Chambers has three previous drug convictions in Prince Georgeโ€™s County, as well as a robbery and sex offense conviction.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Prince Georgeโ€™s County Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Skalla prosecuted.
