Anqoine Chambers, 24, of Temple Hills, was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney for the District of Marylandย Rod Rosenstein.
According to the statement of facts presented at his Sept. 11, 2006 guilty plea, on Aug. 30, 2005:
Prince George’s County Police officers observed Chambers and two others talking with another individual outside Chambersโs car. As the officers approached, the three men began to walk away, ignoring the officersโ directions to stop. Chambers tossed a handgun into a nearby bush and ran. After a brief chase he was apprehended.
Officers retrieved a loaded .40 caliber Taurus handgun and a baggie containing 1.49 grams of crack cocaine from the bush. The crack was packaged for distribution in 15 smaller baggies. Officers seized a second .40 caliber magazine, loaded with 10 rounds from Chambersโs pocket.
A search of Chambersโ car revealed 217 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution in two 1/4 pound bags. Chambers has three previous drug convictions in Prince Georgeโs County, as well as a robbery and sex offense conviction.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Prince Georgeโs County Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara Skalla prosecuted.
