Prince Frederick, MD – On April 8, Deputy Evans conducted a traffic stop in the area of Dares Beach Road and Wilson Road after observing a vehicle with a right tail light out, and a crack in the windshield. Upon approaching the vehicle, he smelled the odor of burnt and raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Ryan Christopher Carpenter, 31 of Prince Frederick, stated that he had smoked in his vehicle a few days before, and had a โbowlโ in his center console.
Deputy Evans then asked Carpenter if he could step out of the vehicle so a probable cause search of the vehicle could be performed. According to charging documents, โDuring my search of the vehicle, I discovered a a red, yellow, green and bronze smoking device containing marijuana residue in the console, and a Ziploc bag containing 17 grams of suspected marijuana.
Carpenter was arrested for CDS possession of marijuana. He has a hearing in District Court tentatively scheduled for July 7.
