Mechanicsville, MD— On March.16, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Dfc. Kenneth Flerlage responded to Old Village Road in Mechanicsville in regards to a shooting complaint.

When Flerlage arrived on the scene, he made contact with the victims, who advised, “they were outside of her residence talking when she (victim) heard on popping, and something hit the dumpster behind her residence,” according to charging documents.

One of the victims also stated that she then heard two more popping noises and something struck the fence she was standing near. The victim advised, “when the object struck the fence she was approximatelyย three feet away from where the object hit,” according to charging documents.

The victim was talking to another individualย outside her residence, “when he heard a high-powered BB gun being shot,” according to charging documents.

Flerlage responded to Mechanicsville Road to make contact with a possible suspect. When he arrived on the scene contact was made with Casey W. Bridgett, ย 20 of Mechanicsville, who was later identified as the defendant.ย 

Bridgett stated, “he took his CO2 BB gun outside to release the last two pellets in it into the ground. Bridgett advised he did not point the BB gun towards anyone or any residences,” according to charging documents.ย 

Bridgett showed Flerlage where he fired the BB gun into the ground. According to charging documents, “Flerlage did not observe the ground be disturbed.ย 

Bridgett was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment. At this time, Bridgett does not have a scheduled court date. Bridgett faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $10,000.ย
