Annapolis, MD – A fire at a home on the Severn River early Tuesday morning, April 11 claimed the life of an unidentified man, Anne Arundel Fire Department officials reported. The blaze at the home in the Annapolis – Arnold area was reported around 1:30 a.m. after a witness spotted the flames from the Severn River Bridge, fire department reports stated. Nearly 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Two fire boats were sent to the area to provide a better water supply.

Fire officials reported two men were inside the house. One of the men was able to escape. However, due to the intensity of the fire, crews were unable to enter the house in order to save the other man.

Anne Arundel authorities said the cause of the fire has not been determined. The structure is a total loss, fire officials reported.
