Paul A. Stamey

Hollywood, MDโ€”On April 1, St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Cpl. Michael Peacher responded to Mcintosh Road in Hollywood for the report of an assault in progress.

When Peacher arrived on the scene, he made contact with the defendant, who was identified as Paul A. Stamey, 37 of Hollywood. Stamey advised, โ€œhe was at his brotherโ€™s residence located at Clarkes Landing Road in Hollywood when he was assaulted by the victim. While Peacher spoke with Stamey, a smell of alcohol beverage was coming from his breath. Stamey had a small cut on his forehead between his eyes and dried blood on his hands,โ€ according to charging documents.ย ย 

Peacher then left the scene and went to the victimโ€™s residence to make contact with the victim. When Peacher arrived at the victim’s residence, he observed that she โ€œappeared to be scared and was crying, she (victim) advised she was hiding outside until Peacher arrived,โ€ according to charging documents. Peacher asked the victim what happen, and she advised, โ€œshe was in an argument with Stamey. He became angry because she was on her phone and started arguing with her. Stamey then tackled her to the ground knocking her out of her shoes and causing her to become muddy. The victim ran to the car to get away from Stamey. Stamey reached over the seat and started strangling her (victim).โ€ ย 

Peacher noticed that the victim had numerous red marks and scratches on her neck. The red marks on her neck appeared to be in the shape of, โ€œhand prints of someoneโ€™s fingers being around her neck,โ€ according to charging documents.

Peacher asked Stamey how the victim received her injuries and Stamey stated, โ€œI donโ€™t know, and itโ€™s not my problem,โ€ according to charging documents.

Stamey was arrested and transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center, where he was charged with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Stamey has a hearing in District Court tentatively scheduled for June 2. Stamey faces a maximum jail sentence of 15 years and/or a maximum fine of $7,500.
