edward nathaniel walkerLa Plata, MD – Edward Nathaniel Walker was on a roll.

According to Charles County Assistant States Attorney Jeremy Widder, Walker got his truck worked on at Trick Trucks located on Old Washington Road in September 2010 to the tune of $5,235. Widder told Charles County Circuit Court Judge H. James West Wednesday, Nov. 30 that Walker paid for the repairs with a check from an account that was closed out seven months earlier.

In November, he purchased $5,057.92 worth of sound equipment from Hot Licks in Waldorf, later installed at hisย son’s home. Checks he wrote to pay for the equipment with were returned for insufficient funds.

โ€œAttempts were made to make contact with the defendant but he did make restitution,โ€ Widder explained.

By December, Walker had contracted with a local car dealership to sell Christmas trees and ordered 500 Frazier Fir trees from East Mountain Frazier Fir Farm in North Carolina. Walker paid $17,248 for the trees and a $3,250 freight fee both with bogus checks. โ€œThe checks were on the business account of Walker Food and Vending, which had been closed since 2008,โ€ Widder stated. โ€œThe Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office was contacted and they seized the Christmas trees. Deputies were sitting on 508 trees that were later given to a local fire station, and they were able to sell the trees.โ€

Walker also bilked a customer out of $5,000 while working at the used car dealership.

According to terms of hisย plea bargain, Walker will pay $2,000โ€”by money order, the judge was quick to point outโ€”within 60 days, and $500 a month until the restitution is paid in full.

โ€œAs long as you pay $2,000 I will push this out,โ€ West told the defendant, and set a status hearing for May 17, 2017.
