Man passed out on sidewalk advised he had a little alcohol

Charlotte Hall, MD— On Feb.1, the St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Exxon gas station located on Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall for a check the welfare of a citizen call. 

When Deputy Artina Manns arrived on the scene, the suspect–identified as Joseph A. Dement, 42, of no fixed address–was discovered passed out on the sidewalk, possibly intoxicated. 

According to charging documents, “It took several attempts to wake the defendant. Dement advised he did not need any medical attention and only had a little alcohol however he (Dement) could not advise how much a little was when asked.”

“I (Manns) advised Dement he had noticed not to trespass, and currently has pending court cases for violating the notice not to trespass at the Exxon,” according to charging documents. 

Dement was charged with trespassing on private property. Dement at this time does not have a scheduled court date. However Dement does face a maximum jail sentence of three months and or a maximum fine of $500.
