Prince Georgeโ€™s County Marylandโ€ฆ

This morning, April 2, Sheriff Tim Cameron informed The Bay Net that Marcel Brooks, missing since March 24, has been located alive and well in Alabama. Brooks is a 60 year old St. Mary’s County resident, who serves on the Community Health Advisory Committee and has previously run for St. Mary’s County Commissioner. He was reported missing by his wife.

The story surrounding Brooks’ disappearance and location in Alabama is still developing. And the investigation is being persued by P.G. County.

Lt. Ricky Burris of St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office told The Bay Net P.G. County officers have released little information about the case to St. Mary’s County. According to Burris, Brooks was found by police in Alabama, while standing at the side of a road looking at a map.

Brooks’ family has been informed that he has been found unharmed, but further details in this case are still pending.

Staff Writer Anna Dailey reported on March 27 that the Prince Georgeโ€™s County Police Department needed help locating St. Maryโ€™s resident, Marcel Williams Brooks, Sr. Her report follows.

About 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007, 60 year-old Brooks Sr. called his wife from his job at Pearl Vision Center on the 4000 block of Branch Avenue and told her that he was going to purchase some lottery tickets. Heย had not been seen since.ย 

Physical Description:ย  Mr. Brooks is a black male, 5โ€™9โ€ and 180 pounds with a mustache and hair under his bottom lip.ย  Mr. Brooks suffers from a thyroid condition and is under a doctorโ€™s care.

Clothing:ย  He was last seen wearing a light green collar shirt with a tie, grey dress slacks, black shoes, and black belt.ย  He also wore a silver and gold wedding band with stars on the silver portion of the band.ย 

Vehicle:ย  Mr. Brooks may be driving a taupe 1997 Chrysler Town & Country Van with Maryland license plate number M005413.

Mr. Brooks is an active member ofย the St. Maryโ€™s Community Health Advisory Committee where he currently serves.ย ย In 2002, Mr. Brooks made a failed bid for the St Maryโ€™s Board of Commissioners.
