At 6 p.m. May 13, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officer J. Clagett was patrolling White Plains Regional Park located 1015 St. Charles Parkway in White Plains when he observed a parked vehicle and smelled the odor of marijuana.

His investigation revealed one of the occupants of the vehicle, Jessica Lynn Lembach, 22, of Indian Head, was in possession of $20 worth of marijuana. Lembach initially provided a false name but her true identity was later revealed.

After Officer Clagett arrested Lembach, she managed to slip out of her handcuffs, pushed the officer and attempted to flee. A brief struggle ensued but the officer subdued Lembach and she was taken into custody without further incident.

Lembach was charged with possession of marijuana, assaulting a police officer, second-degree assault, escape, providing a false statement to a police officer and resisting arrest. She was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
