QUANTICO, Va.  – Registration will open next week for the MCM10K and the MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529, two of the main attractions of Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Weekend. Both events open registration on April 11, 2018 at noon Eastern at www.marinemarathon.com.

The MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 will be held on October 27, 2018, the day prior to the MCM. The MCM10K will take place on October 28, 2018 starting in the nation’s capital as the MCM begins in Arlington. As part of the Next Generation Inspiration Initiative, runners ages 17 and under on event day, will receive a 40 percent discount off registration.

The MCM10K is a popular 6.2 mile run that sells out every year. Thousands of runners will take on the course that starts on the National Mall and finishes in stride with the MCM at the iconic U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial. Registration is $50 and is available to runners eight and above. Registration will increase to $65 on July 18, 2018. All participants will get to enjoy the MCM Weekend amenities, including the two-day Health & Fitness Expo, premier participant shirt, stunning finisher medal, event program, entertainment and hospitality.

The MCM Kids Run presented by Virginia529 is a family-friendly event for kids ages 5 to 12 who also want to partake in the excitement of MCM Weekend. The one-mile fun run located in the Pentagon North parking lot in Arlington, VA, draws more than 3,500 kids from across the United States. The MCM Kids Run includes music, mascots, healthy snacks and Camp Miles, the interactive fun and fitness festival geared to kids. Registration is $6 with the Next Generation Inspiration Initiative. All participants will receive a finisher medal, participant shirt and a variety of healthy snacks, courtesy of Sodexo.

Families may choose for their young runner to participate in any of the nine starting waves between 9 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.

In September, the MCM Kids Run will open to entire school groups who want to participate in the fun together. The five schools that register the largest number of students to participate in the MCM Kids Run will be presented the Healthy School Award. The Healthy School Award is a monetary prize presented to the winning schools’ physical education departments from Sodexo.
