Solomons, MD – The Tiki Bar of Solomon’s Island held a fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 5 to donate profits to the 2D Battalion 25th Marines Echo Company Birthday Ball Committee. This event was also sponsored by Grill SGT BBQ that held a pig roast at about 4 p.m. Along with the great food, Tracy Allen played a set featuring Brooke Laughtner – an up and coming acoustic act.
The 2D Battalion, 25th Marines is a reserve infantry battalion in the United States Marine Corps headquartered in Garden City, NY, with units located throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. It consists of approximately 1,000 marines and sailors. They fall under the command of the 25th Marine Regiment and 4th Marine Division.
The event had a wonderful turnout, lots of food, strong Mai Tai’s and great weather. The Tiki Bar of Solomon’s does a great deal for the community and its customers, including “Thankful Thursday Nights,” offering specials for the PAX River Naval Air Station CWS workers, military, police, firefighters and other civil servants. They also have a lot of upcoming events.
Grill SGT BBQ, run by Mike and Mary Theesen, do many events that support local charities such as The Southern MD Bike Fest, whose proceeds go to the Maryland Patriot Guard to support our vets. They have holiday specials for the winter.
