La Plata, MD – State authorities are investigating an incident that occurred Sunday afternoon, April 19 in the front yard of a residence on Willow Lane in La Plata.
“A Molotov cocktail was constructed and thrown into the front yard of the residence,” stated Dfm. Z. Zell. “The incendiary device ignited the brush and spread toward the house. However, the fire was extinguished prior to damaging the house.”
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office reported the incident occurred around 3 p.m. Four firefighters from La Plata were dispatched to the blaze and brought it under control in one minute.
Zell and Dfm. John Nelson are continuing to investigate the incident. No arrests have been made.
