
***The Maryland Department of Health has information that is not current with what St. Mary’s County Health Department officials are reporting. At this time, St. Mary’s County is showing 16 positive cases. Our numbers have been calculated with the newest information.***
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. โ As of Tuesday morning at roughly 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health is confirming a total of 1,660 cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, while many results are presumably still waiting to be confirmed. This new total means there are 248 newly confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.
At this time, there are 71 officially confirmed cases in the Southern Maryland region. Charles County saw their previously confirmed total of 33 cases rise to 40. In Calvert County, MDH has confirmed one more official case, bringing their total up to 15. St. Maryโs Countyโs saw an uptick of four newly confirmed cases overnight, with a final total of 16.
At this time, the St. Mary’s County Health Department has determined they will no longer provide releases to the press regarding individual cases, however they will continue to track the total number. TheBaynet.com is working to determine if there have been any new exposure risks in St. Mary’s County, and all of Southern Maryland.
A majority of the positive cases across the state are still found in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. Since yesterday, both Montgomery and PG County have confirmed a total of 47 new official cases overnight, bringing their respective totals to 388 and 341. Anne Arundel County has also confirmed 17 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing their official total to 127.
On Mar. 30, the total number of confirmed cases by the Maryland Department of Health was 1,413. As of Mar. 31, that recorded number is at least 1,661, showing over a 17.5% increase across the state in the past 24 hours.
The Maryland Department of Health is confirming the following demographic breakdown of the cases, showing that the largest group to be impacted is adults under 65 years of age:
