Theft โ€” On Thursday, July 21, 2016 TFC B. Ditoto responded to the Kohls Department Store locatedย in Lexington Park for a reported theft in progress. Upon arrival, TFC Ditoto observed the suspects,ย five juvenile males, attempting to exit the store and detained them. Investigation revealed that lossย prevention officers witnessed the juveniles putting several items into their book bags and cutting openย two speaker boxes. Upon reviewing the video surveillance, it was determined that one of the juvenilesย had not participated in the theft or destruction of property. The other four juveniles were placed underย arrest and transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing. All four wereย charged with Disorderly Conduct, Theft under $1,000, and Malicious Destruction of Property. Two ofย the juveniles were also charged with Concealing a Deadly Weapon. One juvenile was charged withย Failure to Obey a Lawful Order for attempting to flee the scene. The juveniles were released to theirย respective guardians.

Assault on Police โ€” On Friday, July 22, 2016, Sgt. Laney responded to the area of Beaver Creek Driveย in Wildewood for a reported large party. While en route, Sgt. Laney stopped a silver passenger car inย the area for a minor traffic violation. Sgt. Laney contacted the driver, Juwan Deangelo Carroll, 21, ofย Park Hall and observed suspected CDS in the center console of the vehicle. Sgt. Laney advised Mr.ย Carroll to step out of the vehicle, however Mr. Carroll locked the doors to the vehicle and attempted toย roll the driverโ€™s window up. Sgt. Laney reached through the window, unlocked the door, and openedย it. The driver pulled the door closed. This occurred three times, until the driver rolled the window upย enough to catch and pin Sgt. Laneyโ€™s arm in the window. As Sgt. Laney removed his arm from theย window, the window broke, causing abrasions and pain to Sgt. Laneyโ€™s arms. The driver then placedย the vehicle in gear and drove away.ย A perimeter was set up in the Wildewood Retirement Community, and the area was searched. Theย vehicle was located, but abandoned. TFC Krenik, who was assisting with the search, stopped a vehicleย in the area. As he approached the vehicle, TFC Krenik identified the passenger as the Mr. Carrollย based on Sgt. Laneyโ€™s description. After a brief struggle, Mr. Carroll was placed under arrest andย charged with Assault First Degree, Aggravated Assault Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Alteringย Evidence, Obstructing and Hindering a Police Officer Failure to Obey a Lawful Order and numerousย traffic offenses. He was also charged civilly with Possession of Marijuana Less Than 10 Grams. Mr.ย Carroll was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center and held pending a bond reviewย with the District Court Commissioner. (16-MSP- 029414)

Assault โ€” On Friday, July 22, 2016, Tpr. C. Ditoto and Tpr. Boniarski responded to the 46000 block ofย Sell Drive in Lexington Park for a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed that Kenneth Wayneย Sullivan, 54, of Lexington Park had been in a verbal altercation a female victim. During theย investigation, Mr. Sullivan failed to obey a lawful order, then clenched his fist and pulled back in anย attempt to strike a St. Maryโ€™s County Deputy that was assisting. A brief struggle ensued, and Mr.ย Sullivan was placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center andย charged with Assault Second Degree, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest, andย Aggravated Assault Second Degree. He was held pending a bond review with the District Courtย Commissioner. (16-MSP- 029538)

Theft โ€“ On Thursday, July 28, 2016, TFC Ruth responded to the 22000 block of Clipper Drive inย Great Mills for a reported theft. Investigation revealed that a male juvenile, 13, stole a bicycle fromย outside of a residence. The juvenile was placed under arrest for Theft Less Than $1000 andย transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing. The suspect thenย released to a parent.
