Prince George’s County, MD –ย On 06/02/2016 at approximately 2256 hours, the Maryland State Police, College Park Barrack responded for a three vehicle personal-injury collision involving the above vehicles and operators. Preliminary Investigation revealed vehicle #1 (GMC Yukon) was traveling E/B on US-50 when the operator of the vehicle traveled off the roadway, striking the center median guardrail, becoming airborne. The vehicle came to a rest in lane #1 of E/B US-50. Vehicle #2 (Cadillac SRX-4) was traveling W/B on US-50 in lane #1. Vehicles #1 and #2 collided head-on, causing vehicle #2 to come to rest in lane #2 of W/B US-50. Vehicle #3 (Chevrolet Aveo) was traveling W/B on US-50 in lane #2. Vehicle #3 struck vehicle #2 in a T-bone style fashion in lane #2.
All three (3) operators of the vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment to injuries sustained in the collision. The operator of vehicle #2, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical staff at Prince Georgeโs Hospital. The driver of vehicle #1 displayed signs of narcotic impairment.ย ย The Maryland State Police CRASH Team responded to the scene for further investigation. Both lanes for W/B US-50 were closed as traffic was diverted onto MD-202 during this investigation. The State Highway Administration handled the lane closure.ย All lanes were reopened at 0343 hours.
