The McDonough Rams moved into the 2-A State Final game behind a strong running game led by Senior RB Justin Brooks who started the games second drive with a 60 yard TD run straight through the middle of the Queen Anneโs defense. The Huntingtown Hurricanes were shooting for their second straight 3-A State Finals but after jumping out to a 14-0 lead they fell on the final play of the game 15-14 to the Franklin Indians. McDonough fought tough the entire game behind two TD’s by Senior RB Andrew Bose. The shutout was still in place for Huntingtown until 5:43 remained, when a bad snap to the Hurricanes punter led to a safety by the Indians special teams unit. Franklin then took the next drive to pay-dirt as ย Joey Dorsey scored on a one yard QB keeper. SR RB Mark Venable took control as Franklin got the ball with only 1:02 remaining and no time outs. As everyone was expecting the pass game, the Indians steadily ran the ball in a no huddle offense down the field during a 60 yard drive that was capped off on a Venable two yard TD run as the clock ran out.
ย
The Franklin fans rushed the field in total excitement that can only be found during the real version of Friday Night Lights.
