LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Join us in celebrating Lauren B. and Stephanie K., our September SPIRIT Award winners! These nurses were nominated by their peers for demonstrating our SPIRIT values—Service, Patient First, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Teamwork—in their roles here at MedStar St. Mary’s.
Lauren, Intensive Care Center ► “Lauren puts others first and volunteers to help wherever she can, stepping in without hesitation. In July, she took the lead during a patient crisis, deescalating the situation so no one was hurt. The next day, Lauren was aware of how busy the Emergency Department (ER) was when she heard an overhead respiratory stat call. She immediately went down to help care for critical patients in the ER. These are just a few examples of her Patient First and Teamwork values.”
Stephanie, Women’s Health & Family Birthing Center ► “Stephanie has really stepped up to care for pregnant COVID patients and has the distinction of caring for the first COVID-positive mother during her delivery at our hospital. In August, multiple pregnant patients came to the very busy ER for monoclonal antibody infusions at the same time. Stephanie immediately volunteered to care for these patients on our unit during a uniquely stressful time. Her compassion makes a difference for others.”
