Maryland State Fire Marshalls Southern Regional Office is investigating an explosive device found in Hollywood.
Authorities responded to 45024 Steerhorn Neck Road in Hollywood on Sept. 30, at 9 a.m., at the request of the homeowner to remove a military like mortar.
The device was described as a World War II era military mortar round.ย It was removed from the property and transported to a secure location where it was later destroyed and rendered safe.
It is unknown where the device originated from or how long it was at the property.
The U.S. Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal Agency is assisting the Maryland State Fire Marshalls with this investigation.
