At 2:50 p.m. on Monday, March 13, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle on Route 245 at McIntosh Road, Leonardtown, when he observed the operator not wearing a seatbelt. Upon contact with the 17 year old driver, an odor of marijuana was detected. A probable cause search was conducted in the vehicle. A bag, a purple tube and a metallic smoking device, all containing marijuana, were located on the floorboard. The juvenile was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana. He was released to a parent pending disposition by Juvenile Justice Authorities.
At 12:09 a.m. on March 23, TPR Stern responded to Ponds Wood Rd., Huntingtown, to assist TFC Murphy with a traffic stop. The operator, Robert Brian Kelly, 41, of Dunkirk, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Incident to arrest, a baggie of suspected marijuana was located on his person. Mr. Kelly was then additionally charged with possession of marijuana. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC
At 2:55 a.m. on March 18, on Rt. 2/4, Prince Frederick, TPR Bigham stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The operator, Jonathan Robert Critchfield, 19, of Lusby, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Incident to arrest, suspected marijuana was located on his person and in the vehicle. Mr. Critchfield was then charged with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
At 11:56 p.m. on March 18, on Rousby Hall Road, Lusby, TFC Huber stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the occupants, TFC Huber detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and 3 baggies of suspected marijuana were located. Investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male, of Lusby. He was charged with possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. After processing, he was released to a parent.
At 12:03 a.m. on March 21 a vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. Rt. 301, north of Pierce Road, was stopped for speeding. Upon contact with the driver, William Early Daniels Jr., 19 years, of Clinton, an odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. After being questioned, Mr. Daniels retrieved suspected marijuana from the rear pocket of the passenger seat. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and incarcerated in the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review. Tpr. C. At 5:50 a.m. on March 9, on Rt. 2/4, Prince Frederick, TFC Bowling stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The operator, David Wayne Smith, 39, of North Beach, was subsequently arrested for DUI. Incident to arrest, suspected marijuana was located on his person. Mr. Smith was then additionally charged with possession of marijuana. After processing, he was transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
At 9:09 p.m. on March 11, TFC Whipp responded to an area between 16th & 17th St., Chesapeake Beach, for a trespassing complaint. Upon contact with a suspect, a search was conducted and a CDS smoking device was found on his person. Additional CDS (suspected marijuana) was also recovered from a vehicle in which he was a passenger. Arrested at that time for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia was Ryan Christopher Carpenter, 21, of Prince Frederick. After processing
