The Coast Guard confirmed that two of its members and a government-owned vehicle were involved in a fatal crash on the Coastal Highway in Ocean City, shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Coast Guard members, who were not injured, are assigned to Coast Guard Station Ocean City.
According to the Ocean City Police Department, a woman and child were pronounced dead after they were taken to local hospitals.
The names of the woman and child have not yet been released by investigators.
The Coast Guard is fully cooperating with the Ocean City Police Department’s investigation, and offers its condolences to the woman and child’s family.
The Coast Guard did not release the names of the two servicemen involved, or offer any additional details about the crash.
