Authorities in St. Mary’s County are investigating two serious motorcycle accidents that occurred on Monday, August 30.
The first crash was reported shortly after 6 p.m. along Route 235 at St. John’s Road, the same location as a fatality earlier this summer.
Crews arrived on the scene to discover a Yellow Kawasaki Ninja street bike and a gray Dodge Dakota pulling a trailer, which had collided in the intersection. Investigation revealed the driver of the Kawasaki was travelling southbound on Route 235 when the Dakota pulled out from St. John’s Road onto 235 into the path of the motorcyclist.
The driver was flown out by MSP Trooper 7 to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries. Authorities conducted an accident reconstruction at the crash site.
The second motorcycle accident occurred around 10:40 p.m., along Chancellors Run Road at Nancy Lane in Great Mills.
Investigation revealed a Chrysler 300 pulled into the travel lane of a silver Suzuki Hayabusa. The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries.
No word if any charges have been made.
