Solomons, MD – Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) in Solomons was the site of the Tenth Annual Maritime Festival, Saturday, May 2.

Always held on the first Saturday of May, the Maritime Fest is highlighted by the Antique Boat and Marine Engine Show.  Attendees viewed the array of classic boats along with outboard and inboard motors used to power the vessels.

The museum offered free cruises of the Wm. B. Tennison. Children participated in toy boat building and families could also take control of the man-powered crafts. The list of things to do included cooking demonstrations, observing the works of master maritime carvers, plus enjoying live music.

Admission to the seven-hour festival and the indoor museum was free May 2.  More events are on the schedule at CMM, which is open year-round.

On Saturday, July 11 CMM will host Sharkfest. For more information about the museum visit the Calvert County Government web site at www.co.cal.md.us
