After almost two years as Interim County Administrator, Roy E. Hancock returned to his position as Director of Planning and Growth Management on Tuesday, May 22.

Paul Comfort, Charles County’s new County Administrator, will be assisted by Hancock over the next month during the transition. Chuck Beall, who had been Acting Director of Planning and Growth Management, also moved back to his position as Chief of Capital Services.

During their meeting yesterday, the Charles County Commissioners expressed their deep appreciation for the job that Hancock has done.

“Thank you for a job well done,” said Commissioner President Wayne Cooper (D). “It’s been a pleasure serving with you.”

You’re very knowledgeable, you’re very professional, and you a certainly a jewel in Charles County Government,” said Commissioner Edith J. Patterson (D).

You*ve been a professional from the very beginning,” lauded Commissioner Reuben B. Collins II (D).

The two things that stick out in my mind about you,” said Commissioner Gary V. Hodge (D), “are integrity and your even temperament.”

“The information highway can be rapid,” stated Commissioner Samuel N. Graves, Jr. (D), “and Roy has been instrumental in helping me get past that.”

Thank you, Commissioners,” said Hancock, “for the opportunity to serve.”
