Update March.31 8:30 p.m.

White Plains, MD— On March 31, the Waldorf VFD and La Plata VFD responded to 4475 Regency Place in White Plains, MD for a report of a suspicious package.ย 

When units arrived on the scene at the three-storiesย commercial building where the Maryland Independent Newspaper is located.

The suspicious package was discovered by an employee.ย According to the Maryland State Marshal report, “the suspicious package was located in the mail. An X-ray of the package was inย inconclusive and remotely opened to reveal no explosive contents.” Thirty EMS staff members and firefighters were on the scene for three hours.

This incident remains under an active investigation.ย  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bomb Squad Office at 410-859-7152.


Waldorf, MD— At approximatelyย 4 p.m., a bomb threat was received at the Regency Building where the Maryland Independent is located.ย 

The individuals who were inside the building have beenย evacuated. Reports are that a suspicious package is the cause for concern.ย 

According to a spokesperson from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, “the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Charles County Volunteer Fire Department, and the Charles County Bomb Team are on the scene. A suspicious package was found in the building.”
