A new women’s exercise center, Fitness And More, opened in Hollywood on May 4 and is owned by three local women, Brenda Tominack, Janet Evans, and Connie Khinoo-Olsen. The new gym is located on Route 235 North in the Hollywood Plaza and is taking new members.

The three owners were all members of Ladies Workout Express, which closed its doors in April. Many of the members there felt very strongly about continuing a ladies’ gym in Hollywood; Tominack, Evans, and Khinoo-Olsen answered the call, formed a limited liability company, and opened Fitness And More.

The new members approve of the new name, FAM, as they feel like a big, extended family, supporting each other. The first member to join FAM was Terri Verbic-Boggs, a nurse at St. Mary’s Health Connections who previously owned Ladies Workout Express. Verbic-Boggs was instrumental in promoting community service, such as supporting Relay For Life (American Cancer Society), the Memory Walk (Alzheimer’s Association), organizing food drives, school supply drives, and adopting families at Christmas.

The owners of Fitness And More plan to continue promoting these worthy causes and strongly value the idea of giving back to the community. They formed a Relay team and completed their first community service project raising $17,394.89 for the Relay For Life.

Additionally, FAM is offering a Fit Teen program for teenaged daughters of members who join Fitness And More. Women of all ages are welcome to stop by FAM at 24502 Three Notch Road, Hollywood, MD or call (301) 373-9339 for more information.

They are currently offering 10-day passes for $10 to try out the facility or women can try the summer program, “90 Days for $90.” (The Fit Teen program does not apply to the 90-day program.) During this initial opening, all registration fees are waived. FAM is open Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon.
