Update Jan.9 9:00 p.m.ย
On Jan. 9 at 9:00 p.m., TheBayNet received an email from Tim Jameson, who is the Grandfather of the victim that has recently succumbed to his injuries.ย
According to Jameson, “I do not, nor does my son, know the suspect other than having heard his name about the mother of the victim.ย My son and the mother were not involved in a relationship other than having a child together.”ย
Jameson also made a comment about what he would like to see from the State’s Attorneys Office. “All this being said, I do hope TheBayNet will continue to follow the case as it will help keep the pressure on the State’s Attorney to press proper charges ‘which in my opinion should be negligent homicide at the very least given his alleged actions following the incident.’ ย I will be reaching out to the State’s Attorney’s Office Monday morning to get more information and see what their plans are. Thank you for any assistance you can offer in keeping this story in the public eye,” said Jameson.ย

Mechanicsville, MD — On Jan. 5, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit and investigators from the Department of Child Protective Services responded to Childrenโs Hospital in Washington, D.C. for the report of an injured infant.
According to court documents, โAt this time the prognosis for the victim is dire, and it is probable the injuries will cause the victim’s death.โ
The investigation revealed the victim, a 7-month-old, was examined at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for a head injury. Subsequently, the victim was flown to Children’s Hospital for further treatment where doctors determined the injuries were the result of a battered baby.
โThe defendant stated he had very little sleep the night before, approximately one hour. He stated after the baby fell, the baby looked as though he would cry, so he (Bailey) shook the baby for several minutes and demonstrated severe shaking,โ according to court documents.
The victim remains in critical condition at Childrenโs Hospital.
Detectives determined injuries were caused by the suspect, Nathan Allen Bailey, 30 of Mechanicsville. Bailey ignored signs the victim was in distress and routinely dropped the victim off at daycare. After observing the victim display signs of injury, the daycare provider sought medical assistance.
โThe defendant admitted he knew he should have called for medical assistance but did not. Instead, he stalled, even going next door to his parentโs house and pouring himself a cup of coffee before driving the victim to daycare. Dr. Jackson indicated if medical intervention occurred sooner, the victimโs injuries may not be as severe,โ according to court documents.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Bailey. He was located, placed under arrest, and transported to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center. He has been charged with first-degree assault, child abuse, and child neglect.
At this time, TheBayNet was not able to confirm that Bailey is the father of the victim.ย
Bailey has a trial date tentatively set for Feb.4 at St. Maryโs County District Court. Bailey faces a maximum jail sentence of 65 years and or a maximum fine of $7,500.
The investigating officer of this case was DC.Merrittย of St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office.
Bailey is being held on a $1 million bond.
