Leonardtown, MD – December 31, 2019 – We would like to wish everyone a happy & safe New Year’s Eve. We encourage everyone to make safety a top priority by doing their part to prevent drunk and drug impaired driving.
On average, drunk driving crashes kill 30 people every day in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
So, this holiday season, do not underestimate the effects of alcohol. Donโt believe you can beat them, or they may beat you!

Whether youโre a passenger or driver, the roads are particularly dangerous on New Yearโs Eve. Help everyone stay safe by refusing to drink and drive, and donโt let anyone around you drive under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
If you are hosting a party, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Offer a variety of nonalcoholic drinksโwater, juices, sparkling sodas so your guests will have alternatives to alcohol.
- Provide a variety of healthy foods and snacks.
- Help your guests get home safelyโuse designated drivers, ride share services and taxis. Anyone getting behind the wheel of a car should not have consumed any alcohol.
- If you are a parent, understand the underage drinking lawsโand set a good example.
