Charles County, MD – The Charles County Commission for Women is proud to celebrate their 20th anniversary of service to the community in 2016. At our 20th anniversary gala on April 23, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center (3090 Crain Highway, Waldorf, Maryland 20601), we are recognizing women who are residents of Charles County that served as trailblazers in various fields of interest. These trailblazers are women that opened the door for other women to have access to opportunities that were once limited.
Nominations are being accepted now through March 1, 2016. Completed nomination forms can be submitted via email to CCCW@CharlesCountyMD.gov or via U.S. mail to: Charles County Commission for Women, c/o Crystal Hunt, P.O. Box 2150, La Plata, MD 20646. Mailed nominations must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2016. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
- Government/Politics:ย a female trailblazer who has worked or volunteered in government or public service
- Law Enforcement: a female trailblazer who has served in the law enforcement field, i.e., police, security
- Education: a female trailblazer who has worked or volunteered in the education field, i.e., teacher, administrator, professor
- Health/Medical: a female trailblazer who has worked or volunteered in the health or medical field, i.e., doctor, nurse, specialist
- Human/Social Services: a female trailblazer who has worked or volunteered in the human or social services field, i.e., social worker, nonprofit administrator, nonprofit Board member
- Entrepreneurship: a female trailblazer that has established a new, influential business in the County
- Science and Technology: a female trailblazer who has worked or volunteered in the STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) field
- Armed Forces: a female trailblazer that has worked or volunteered in at least one of the branches of the Armed Forces
- Young Trailblazer (ages 16 โ 21): a female trailblazer that has done extraordinary things to break the barrier for other young women between the ages of 16 โ 21.
- Young Trailblazer, Jr. (ages 15 and under): a female trailblazer that has done extraordinary things to break the barrier for other young women who are age 15 and under.
